St. George's College has a demanding academic environment. Although the work is challenging, you will enjoy the opportunities to work closely with the teachers.

The academic year commences in March and ends in November with the mid term break in June. The year is divided into three terms of about 3 months each.

Organisational Structure

The College is divided into two departments:

School Department:
Grade IV to Grade X - Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (I.C.S.E.)

College Department:
Grades XI and XII - Indian School  Certificate (I.S.C.)

It has 5:1 Boarder to Dayscholar ratio. The total strength of the school being 720 inclusive of approx. 150 International Students.

Academic Structure

 
Teachers at St. Georges spend time working with students as individuals. It has a 1:40 teacher to student ratio. Up to Grade VIII you have the following compulsory subjects with no options.

* Hindi & Sanskrit are compulsory only for Indians. Nepali is also compulsory for the Nepali students. 
From Grade IX onwards you have the option either to join the commerce stream or the science stream. 
At. St. George's we believe the sooner you start specializing the better it is.

*You also have the freedom to choose other elective subjects not mentioned here provided you do study on your own, if the school is not able to provide you a teacher in that domain. Students may change their electives in consultation with the Principal.

The School also organizes Remedial Classes for weaker students.

  Examinations
 

Examinations are conducted for all classes in the month of June, September and November. Promotion is decided on the average marks obtained in these three examinations.

Besides the usual internal examinations one external examination each for I.C.S.E. (Grade-X) and I.S.C. (Grade-XII) has to be taken by the students. (See: www.cisce.org)

A student who fails in English or in any two subjects will not be promoted.

There is no provision for special exam, retests or promotion on trial.

A student who is found using unfair means will be debarred from the remainder of the examination and the examination as a whole will be cancelled.

A child who fails two years in succession in the same grade may not continue in the school.

Reports will not be issued if fees are in arrears.

Note: Provisional Admission is granted to existing students to Grade XI in the month of April. Students wishing to join Grade XI must seek readmission. Admissions to Class XI becomes official only after I.C.S.E. results are declared at the end of May/early June. Courses are allotted on the basis of Preliminary Examination held in Grade X.

Students from other schools wishing to join Grade XI at St. George's must contact the school after 15th of November. They would be invited for an Entrance Test and Personal Interview and the Admission would be finalized after that on the basis of their performance and vacant seats.
