The House System was introduced in the year 1961. It is undoubtedly popular with the boys and it is really connected with the rich past; the four houses have been named after four old boys of the college, all Indian Olympic Hockey players. The four Houses Cullens, Gateleys, Marthins and Tapsells battle for the Cock House Trophy under the guidance of their respective Captains and Vice-Captains
The colour Green symbolises the Cullens House. The Cullens House had been named after Willie G. Cullen and his younger brother Ernie .J. Cullen. The Gateleys House symbolised by the colour red is named after Michael Gateley. The colour yellow stands for the Marthins House named after George Eric Marthins. His combination with Dhyan Chand was unstoppable. The Tapsells House recognised by the colour Blue is named after Carlyle Carroll Tapsell who played for the Indian Hockey team in the 1936 Berlin Olympic.
The houses function in a very smooth and steady way. The Inter House competitions encourage boys to take part in sports and co - curricular activities. It is from the house competitions that boys are selected for the various school teams. With unity and total dedication the boys of the various house work towards the pride of winning the Cock House, the ultimate goal of each captain. With the true spirit of our great heroes, we compete in the spirit of a Manorite. |
