Trips and Treks

Being located at the foothills of the mighty Himalayas in Northern India, it is almost taken for granted that we, at St. George's indulge in a lot treks and excursions. Be it to Gangotri, the origin of the mighty Ganges or to DodiTal, the tranquil lake some 6 kms. and 1600 kms. feet above the nearest motorable road, the Manorites have explored it all. The bond between nature and St. George's goes down so much to the core that we have been blessed with a beautiful stream on campus and a waterfall 15 minutes from the edge of our massive 400 acre campus.

Students of Grade VII and VIII go for excursions to nearby tourist destinations. Students of grade IX and X get a bigger bite and rough it out trekking to Gangotri, completing the 21 kms to Gaumukh, and then they do a 22 km trek to the 'Valley of Flowers', which has been designated among the 5 most beautiful places of the Nation. They also trek 17 km a day to go to DodiTal, another beautiful lake surrounded by the snowcapped mountains.

The icing on the cake is the Grade XI and XII excursions. They have an annual rafting trip under trained professionals in Shivpuri, some 18 km away from the holy banks of the Ganges at Rishikesh. The Rapids that the Manorites encounter also play host to the world river rafting competitions. The juniors go out for memorable excursions to disnotic places like Shimla, Nainital, Kullu Manali, Agra, Rajasthan and many other tourist destinations. But visits are not restricted to nearby places or even the Nation. Students from all Grades have gone on joint trips to Malaysia and to camps in Egypt , to Thailand and beyond during their summer breaks and winter vacations.
